For the depiction of the Multiverse in the D.I.T. Literary Universe, see Multiverse (DLU). |
- "If I integrated the Multiverse too much, it would desensitize my readers. If I integrated it too little, my readers would believe the whole Multiverse concept is about fan service, a mistake that has already been made by others so many times. The Multiverse is boundless and frighteningly mysterious, as there are almost infinite aspects of itself. There are infinite parallel dimensions to the Earthly Plane that together comprise the Multiverse and its myriad planes. And by that, I am saying the number of universes is literally transfinite, that is, a number greater than infinity. There is also a transfinite number of Multiverses."
- ―D. Isaac Thomas[src]
The D.I.T. Multiverse is the collection of alternate universes which share a universal hierarchy; it is a subsection of the larger Omniverse, the collection of all alternate universes. Within D.I.T., most tales take place within the fictional universe, which in turn is part of a larger multiverse. A large variety of these universes were originated as forms of divergence from other realities, where an event with different possible outcomes gives rise to different universes, one for each outcome. Some can seem to be taking place in the past or future due to differences in how time passes in each universe. Often, new universes and dimensions are born as an outcome of time travel, spinning out of storylines involving time-traveling characters, as their actions rendered their home times alternate timelines.
The Multiverse also plays a role in the D.I.T. Literary Universe, also known as Mutantry-2001, as the main continuity in which most D.I.T. storylines take place. Its concept was first introduced in Band of Justice before being explored more deeply in the fifth Part of the DLU.
Definitions[]
- Universe: A universe is a single dimension, such as Mutantry-2001, the mainstream D.I.T. Universe.
- Reality: A reality is the collection of a universe, where a version of the planet Earth exists, and the various other dimensions associated with it, like the Sector of Curiosity or Oblivion. Universes are infinite.
- Multiverse: A multiverse is the collection of alternate universes, with a similar nature and a universal hierarchy. It has been said that there are almost infinite aspects of itself, thus establishing D.I.T.'s positioning then. Additionally, D. Isaac Thomas stated that there are infinite parallel dimensions to Earth's universe that together comprise the Multiverse and its myriad planes, being "literally a transfinite number, that is, a number greater than infinity" of universes in the Multiverse. There is also a transfinite number of Multiverses.
- Omniverse: The Omniverse consists of all of fiction and reality combined, including all the works that are outside of D. Isaac Thomas' works, and therefore also outside the D.I.T. Multiverse. As such, there can logically only be one Omniverse, as anything and everything that currently exists, existed in the past, can potentially exist at any time or may exist in the future is a part of it.

Trivia[]
- Initially, the D.I.T. Literary Universe was going to be called the "Prime D.I.T. Universe" and be designated as "Mutantry-2006" instead of Mutantry-2001. However, the fact that "PDU" stood for an extremely inappropriate sexual slang term, and it seemed (at the time) easy to spam as the "PEDO" (another egregious sexual term) led to the change of name.
- The central concept of the D.I.T. Literary Universe is that it is just like the real world, except that mutated and mystical forces manifest directly before humanity, and that the planets of the Solar System are united exactly as the continents of Earth are. It is more than just that, however. The DLU includes examples of most major science fiction and fantasy concepts, and its owner keeps adding more continuously. Furthermore, these concepts are often (though not always) developed in ways that don't contradict each other, but instead form a unified background. This concept is fairly rare; three examples of fictional universes that seek to use all types of fantastic elements is the Prime Marvel Universe, the DC Universe, and the Disney Animated Canon.
- Several alternate continuities, chiefly Mutantry-4444 and the Fusion, have been treated as possible alternate futures of Mutantry-2001 in novels such as Boys vs. Girls: The Fate of the Towers and The Super Babies: Final Clash of Brethren, to the extent that changes occurring on Mutantry-2001 as a result of time-travel have sometimes drastically altered the history of those universes.
